History:
The Go Far Guitar School was founded by Peter Layton in 1996. After graduating from the Musician's Institute in 1982, Peter Layton began teaching only in-home lessons for about three years. For the next 11 years, he worked as an instructor for a local music store. He then decided to open up the Go Far Guitar School. Since the beginning of the school, the objective has been to provide superb musical instruction in a relaxed environment at a price anyone could afford. As a result, the school has been highly recommended by many satisfied customers, creating a steady flow of students learning guitar, bass guitar and how to sing. Many of Mr. Layton's students have gone on to become quite successful. He has had four students start with him as absolute beginners and end up signed to major recording labels including Mike Einziger the guitarist of the hugely successful rock band INCUBUS. Craig Hoover
In 1993, when Craig Hoover was a young teenager, he began taking guitar lessons with Peter Layton. He studied diligently, progressed quickly and was the first student to take a lesson at the Go Far Guitar School in 1996. He played in several bands and then from 2000 to 2004 he studied classical guitar with John Schneider at Pierce College. He also studied classical guitar and music theory at CSUN. He began teaching at the Go Far Guitar School in January 2005 and has taught dozens of students both in-store and in-home ever since. His calm, patient demeanor and knowledgeable approach has kept him a loyal following through the years.
